On Wednesday, September 27 Curran Antonelli participated in The Thompson Island Outward Bound Education Center's 17th Annual Thompson Island 4K Trail Run located one mile off the coast of downtown Boston on Thompson Island.
The Thompson Island Outward Bound Education Center is a Boston nonprofit that uses rigorous learning experiences to accelerate academic and social-emotional growth of students from Greater Boston.
"Having reached maximum capacity last year at 1,100 runners, the race expanded this year to two days to accommodate all of the companies that wanted to participate. The route takes runners around Thompson Island’s 204 acres, past meadows, salt marshes, rolling hills, the 62-foot-high alpine towers, and through the middle of the organization’s dormitories and classrooms, including the oldest building on the Harbor Islands."
"The Thompson Island 4K Trail Run has the reputation of being one the most unique runs in the Boston area. Companies can network, engage in friendly competition against other companies and build their team culture, while supporting an important program for Boston youth, " said Thompson Island president and CEO Arthur Pearson.
This year 2,000 runners from 103 companies came together to raise over $425,000 during the two-day event. These funds will help to bring thousands of Boston Public School students to Thompson Island throughout the year, where they have the opportunity to participate in free, hands-on learning and team building activities.
